Home : How Does an Electric Toothbrush Work?
The cleaning action created by an electric toothbrush is based on two separate mechanisms. One of these mechanisms is conventional and is similar to the same mechanism used by all other types of toothbrushes. The second cleaning action is the intense speed at which the bristles vibrate. The primary mode of cleaning, however, is produced by the scrubbing action of its brush head's bristles on the surface of the user's teeth. Both manual and electric toothbrushes rely on this same principle for removing dental plaque. It is the innovative technology, the vibratory motion that is able to impart energy to the fluids, like saliva, that surround the teeth. The motion of these agitated fluids is capable of dislodging dental plaque.
